Guide To Authentic Victorian Interior Design

The design of interiors during the Victorian period was very unique, once you have seen it once then it will be very hard to miss in the future. I’m sure everyone has seen the picture of a lady dressed in Victorian style clothing holding an umbrella getting into a small boat. This is a very romantic image, especially as someone is helping her into the boat.

The Victorian style is very popular at the moment, especially in the New England states, there are a number of key things that you need to do to ensure that you create a genuine Victorian themed room.

Using Focus Walls To Accent A Room

A focus wall can be the defining touch in a room, changing it from a comfortable room, into THE comfortable room. The first thing a person will see is the one accented wall, which can be used to accentuate a certain item in the room.

Walking into a room without an accent wall, nothing in particular will stick out. But by adding one distinct color, say a casual red wall with the rest a dark khaki, it will immediately push the eyes to your desired wall. A fireplace is a great piece to have on the wall, as it is normally the anchor of a room. One of the most effective uses of this is a living room with a red wall around the fireplace.
