End Tables - When Do You Stop Interior Decorating?
Much like an artist may sometimes have difficulty knowing when to stop adding colors to a painting, there comes a time when you need to step back and look at your room and decide if you need that one more thing or not. One way to know for sure is if the room inspires relaxation and tranquility, you’re there and you have accomplished the zenith of interior décor.
If you find that your room still makes you feel as though it needs “something” you probably just need to tie your interior décor theme together and make your room “go together”. Treat yourself to a few well placed accessories. Simple elements can give a room the final touch it needs. A pillow in an accent color to set off a sofa or an end table that is topped with a beautiful gemstone globe or perhaps even a bouquet of flowers from your own garden can all add the final finish your room needs.
The theme you’ve used for your room can bring the final touch too. If you have a rustic look, use some of the minor colors such as burgundy to really light up your room. If you have a love of the “distressed” look - there are a number of items you can add from tin ceiling tiles to distressed frames for your photos that will carry your theme around the room. Just like too much paint can ruin the artist’s masterpiece, don’t go overboard adding those final extras or you’ll ruin your entire design and simply look stuffed and cluttered in your room. Layers of texture, pattern, color and comfort reflect your style and make your room feel special.
One piece of furniture that always seems to be added last is the end table, hence its name. Often sold in pairs the right ones can make your living room complete. Flanking a sofa or in between two chairs the choice is yours. And because they are available in an array of shapes and heights you can have a tribal drum, a Chinese garden stool or even a white ceramic elephant. The possibilities are endless.
And as aforementioned don’t forget to top your end table selection with a few books, a favorite photo or perhaps even some flowers in a piece of your French pottery. It is these little touches that really make a difference. Whether you want to add a touch of the tropics or vintage ’70s chic, end tables and other accessories can help.
So, use these tips and create exactly the room you want. It’s easy to do. Just add one small accent at a time along with your end tables and you’ll know when you have the perfect balance for your own individual décor. Until you decide to refresh the look of a room. Then you can start the process all over again because you never truly stop decorating. All it takes is for something to inspire you and your room can take on a whole new life.
